"In situations where a raft foundation alone does not satisfy the design requirements, it/ t; Z8 l) G2 i/ C2 H
may be possible to enhance the performance of the raft by the addition of piles. The use: ]9 [0 J. d4 V8 l8 I6 U

paper outlines the development of a simplified method of analysis which can provide a; S/ M# S& k6 H4 A$ m$ r
useful tool for preliminary design of piled raft foundations. It involves two phases:

2. The assessment of the behavior under individual column loads.
