capacity and the settlement and differential settlement performance of the raft. This

useful tool for preliminary design of piled raft foundations. It involves two phases:* o+ q$ I$ D% L- j0 f3 j5 X
1. The assessment of the overall foundation behavior;

In both cases, use is made of simplified solutions to compute foundation stiffness' @% a" U3 `& [9 H8 t9 B/ ~9 h
and capacity characteristics. The selection of design geotechnical parameters is an6 j+ V5 ~0 W' B5 C5 b- J* P
essential component of both design stages, and some approximations for estimating the

Typical applications to a case history of a piled raft and to model centrifuge tests
